Dr. Brown is the owner and founder of CapitolHill Consortium for Counseling & Consultation LLC, also known as CCCC, formerly known as Family Assistance in Coping with Trauma and Stress, F.A.C.T.S. PLLC.
Dr. Brown is an honors graduate of Wellesley College and received her doctorate degree in psychology from Boston University.
Dr. Brown believes that routine mental health screening at key developmental stages during childhood, adolescence, and adulthood is critical to prevent the tragedies that we hear in the news daily. Recognizing problems as early as possible and providing appropriate psychological treatment will serve individuals, families, and society well.
Dr. Brown provides individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy for children, adolescents and adults in the Washington, DC area. She accepts most insurances, medical assistance, and EAP, with the mission of making mental health services as accessible and affordable as possible. She provides public speaking engagements on a variety of mental health topics for local and national organizations. Her therapy and expert witness specialty areas include trauma, domestic violence, mood, and personality disorders, as well as couple and family counseling.
Dr. Brown recently published her first book on the topic of teen bullying entitled I AM OK: A Workbook for Teens to Recover from Bullying. She was first recognized for her work on bullying in 2007 by Jet Magazine. As a trauma specialist, she views bullying on this continuum. In her practice with individuals across the lifespan, she has witnessed the far-reaching effects on personality development for both bullies and the bullied when they have not had the benefit of early intervention.
Dr. Brown is a member of strong and committed national community organizations including The Links, Incorporated, that has designated bullying as a national project; The Girl Friends, Incorporated; Jack & Jill of America, Incorporated; and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
