Ms. Venkatanarayanan is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, Psychotherapist and Trainer. She takes an integrative and eclectic approach the the therapeutic process that includes elements of person-centered, cognitive behavioral, DBT, solution-focused therapeutic techniques.
Her goal is to assist the clients she serves enhance the quality of their lives. To this effect, she is committed to providing each client an emotionally safe environment where they are not only comfortable but motivated to explore even their most dreaded challenges. Her proactive approach emphasizes the importance of integrating cultural and socioeconomic factors into a therapeutic milieu where diversity is applauded.
For the past fifteen plus years her clients have included those with trauma based issues, substance abuse and co-occuring disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders and body image struggles. She is adept at working with persons who are facing difficulties during periods of transition – change of careers, relationship dilemmas, role changes, geographical changes and so on. She has with worked with clients that cut across all demographic lines. No matter the issues at hand Ms. Venkatanarayanan is committed to being non-judgmental, compassionate and focused on helping clients discover ways to independently manage their lives on a daily basis.
She has more than fifteen years of experience working for the State of Maryland and the Government of the District of Columbia. Ms.Venkatanarayanan has been a consultant for a number of social service agencies as a presenter, facilitator and technical assistant resource.
In the mid 90's she has practiced in India where she worked with adults and their families affected by behavioral health issues such trauma, chemical dependency, depression, anger management, domestic violence.
Ms. Venkatanarayanan is fluent Hindi and has experience in providing behavioral health services in the aforementioned language.
