Lanada Williams is a National Certified Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (MD/DC) with expertise in family and couples counseling. She is a trained Functional Family Therapist, Family Facilitator, and Trauma Systems Therapist. For the past 15 years, she has specialized in conflict, trauma, crisis management, and major transitions. Her practice includes culturally sensitive, respectful, and affirming counseling for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning/Queer (LGBTQ) individuals and couples. Lanada is a member of the American Counseling Association, Northern Atlantic Region Association of Counselor Education and Supervision, and DC Mental Health Counselor Association.
Lanada directed and supervised a team of community-based mental health professionals. She was instrumental in providing efficient clinical oversight for over 100 families in crisis. In addition to managing an interdisciplinary staff, she provided individual and family therapy, coordinated services for families throughout the DC-area, and delivered training to foster caregivers of youth and adolescents.
Lanada completed her doctoral internship at DC Superior Court Child Guidance Clinic where she conducted psychological assessments and counseled juvenile justice-involved youth. She also developed and led several trainings, such as the LGBT Safe Space Training for university students, in-service and diversity training for university staff, and crisis management training for case managers. Lanada also prepares graduate students for the National Counselor Exam.
