Sheila Guzman is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia and Washington, D.C. She received both her Bachelors of Psychology and Masters of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Sheila has worked in a variety of mental health/substance abuse treatment settings including juvenile and adult correctional facilities, inpatient settings, emergency mental health centers and community mental health clinics.
Sheila’s approach as a therapist is to focus on the strength of the therapeutic relationship, making it a safe and healthy space to explore client’s issues on their timelines, as well as to co-create client centered service goals. She has experience in a variety of therapeutic areas including: expressive arts therapy, play therapy, behavior modification, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, psychoanalytic, family systems, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing.
Sheila specializes in treating anxiety, depression, various mood/affective disorders, thought disorders, emotional disturbances, behavior challenges in school settings for adolescents, conduct/oppositional defiant disorders, court involved youth and adults, substance abuse and addiction, and adults and juveniles with serious mental illnesses and their families.
