Deborah Cunningham is an Independent Clinical Social Worker at Capitol Hill Consortium for Counseling and Consultation, LLC. Deborah is also licensed in Maryland as a mental health therapist and a Board-Certified Clinical Supervisor.
Deborah graduated from the University of North Florida with a BA in Sociology. She attended Howard University and was an Honor’s Graduate when she received a Master of Social Work. She was included in the Who’s Who of American College Students of 1982.
Deborah has an undergraduate exposure to Cultural Anthropology which provided a thorough foundation and appreciation for cultural difference and how it impacts the individual and families. Understanding culture frequently aids in developing therapeutic relationships. Deborah attended and was certified in individual and family therapy from the Family Therapy Practice Center.
The Family Therapy Practice Center (TFTPC) manner of working is an effective and powerful method of soundly addressing clients’ ways of understanding their way of conducting their lives. The client who is emotionally suffering often has a belief system that is based on past trauma and toxic experiences. Deborah’s method of treatment addresses the change necessary for clients to develop ways of behaving that suit their real desires for their lives. Additional areas of experience in psychotherapy includes diagnostic assessments, work with Major Depression, Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Trauma and Anger Management.
Deborah conducts psychotherapy with individuals, couples, families and groups and works with adolescents, adults and seniors. She is licensed to practice in Washington, DC and Maryland.
