Hevylla Terlau is a third year doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology; an APA accredited program, and she is a predoctoral extern at CCCC. She received her master’s degree with honors in Clinical Social Work from Savannah State University and her bachelor’s in psychology from Penn State University. Upon successfully obtaining her licensure hour requirements, she passed the board examination and is a Licensed Independent Social Worker CP. Hevylla will provide clinical services at CCCC under the supervision of Dr. Zoeann Finzi-Adams.
Hevylla strives to build and maintain a therapeutic environment for any client to be, explore, and resolve the conflicts of the authentic version of themselves in a safe, nonbiased, and non-judgmental way. She believes that anyone receptive to the process of exploration can and often find better self-awareness and solutions to their psychological struggles.
Theoretical Orientation and Specialties
Hevylla follows an integrative approach that focuses on clients’ unique needs. She incorporates several theoretical approaches in treatment, such as System, Psychodynamic, Schema Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, selected based on the client’s current presentation and complaints. She works with patients ages 8 and above. She is interested in working with personality disorders, trauma, depression, anxiety, weight-related concerns, and geriatric complaints.
