Aya Almukhtar, Doctoral Intern

Aya Almukhtar, M.A., is a predoctoral intern completing her Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Psychology with a Neuropsychology Track at The Chicago School. She holds a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School and a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology from California State University, Long Beach. She takes a holistic approach and tailors treatment to each client’s unique needs, strengths, and goals. She uses a humanistic, client-centered, and strengths-based approach through a trauma-informed lens. Her work is grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based interventions, expressive arts, behavioral interventions, and family systems approaches.


Aya has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families and providing group therapies. Aya is especially passionate about helping clients explore the root of distress, strengthen emotional awareness, develop practical coping skills, improve relationships, and build a greater sense of self-compassion, resilience, and purpose. Aya is currently training in DBT Skills and Gottman Level 1.
