Group Therapy

Available in Washington, D.C., Maryland, & Virginia

Group members help each other better understand challenges and solutions while also offering comforting support. We offer many groups for specific problems or populations such as grief, self-esteem, ACOA, and some are general therapy groups for children, adolescents, and adults. Groups are usually composed of 6 to 12 people and offer a safe space to provide and receive support from the lead therapist, as well as other group members

When to Seek Support

  • Does it feel like no one around truly understands current personal struggles?

  • Is there a need for an honest, non-judgmental space to talk through specific issues?

  • Does anxiety or self-doubt make connecting with people in daily life feel difficult?

We're here for you, every step of the way.

How Group Therapy Helps

Breaking Isolation

Relief starts by sharing your story in a room of people who truly understand, realizing you are not alone in your struggles.

Gaining Perspective

Hearing how others navigate similar challenges offers fresh insights and distinct viewpoints you might not find on your own.

Practicing Connection

The group acts as a safe testing ground to try out new communication skills, set boundaries, and connect with others face-to-face.

Healing Through Community

The ultimate goal is building a profound sense of belonging and mutual support, translating group insights into confidence out in the real world.

Adult Children of Dysfunctional Families

About the Group:

This group is intended for people in their late 20s to early 40s who grew up in families where their needs were not met as children due to family problems such substance abuse, mental illness, child abuse or neglect and other stressors that you might not think constitute “Trauma.” This is not a trauma recovery group. We won’t be unpacking deep painful things here. This group is focused on learning how what happened when we were kids still impacts our thinking and behavior now.  You may think that what happened in the past should stay in the past or has had no lasting impact on you. Unfortunately, for some people, those effects linger in ways that affect our self-esteem, our relationships and boundaries once we are adults.

This group meets every other Tuesday from 7PM-8:15PM.  Group members are expected to make a six-month commitment to attending the group.

Meetings are Virtual.

How to Join:

To join this group, Marjorie will first conduct an individual intake session.  This session will be billed to insurance or at a self pay rate.  Please reference the list of accepted insurances.
