Dr. Blair Galiber Smith, LPA

Licensed in Washington, D.C and Virginia

Dr. Galiber-Smith believes fostering a positive and validating relationship is one of the most valuable tools in treatment and aims to support clients as they explore their own sense of self and navigate the challenges that life presents. She emphasizes a safe, vulnerable, and nonjudgmental space in which clients may better understand how their internal processes impact their overall view of themselves, others, and their environment. Thus, clients are encouraged in their journey to create meaningful change. Dr. Galiber-Smith’s therapeutic approach also aims to support clients in the context of their experiences and distinct identities of race, gender expression, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, religion, and more.

Through collaboration, empathy, and strength-focused interventions, Dr. Galiber-Smith hopes clients feel empowered to engage more intentionally in their relationships and their own self-development. Dr. Galiber-Smith uses a primarily psychodynamic approach with a focus on skill building and education. She often pulls from her training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and other evidence-based treatments to provide clients with a holistic approach to care. Dr. Galiber-Smith has experience working with various concerns including depression, anxiety and other mood disorders, interpersonal challenges, trauma, suicidal behaviors, grief, and life transitions.
