Miguel Alcantara, Doctoral Intern

Licensed in Washington D.C, Maryland, and Virginia

I am a cisgendered man living and practicing within the Hispanic LGBTQ+ space. I'm a predoctoral intern completing my PsyD in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School in Washington, DC. My work is rooted in a psychodynamic approach, with Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as an additional tool for a more integrated approach. I've had the privilege of providing affirming, individualized care to LGBTQ+ youth and adults, and have supported clients working through anxiety, depression, and emotional dysregulation. To me, therapy is a gift and a courageous step toward self-care. I try to bring warmth and authenticity into every session, creating space for clients to slow down and better understand themselves. I am currently building on that foundation through DBT Skills and Gottman Level 1 Training.
