Saumya Hariharan, Doctoral Intern

Saumya Hariharan is a South Asian cisgendered woman and clinician, committed to creating a culturally responsive and affirming therapeutic space for clients from diverse backgrounds. She is currently completing her Doctor of Psychology degree in Clinical Psychology at The Chicago School. She completed her Master's degree in Clinical Psychology in India and is fluent in the Hindi and Tamil languages. Her training includes working with children, families and older adults across hospitals, integrated care settings, and private practice. Saumya believes therapy is a collaborative and supportive space where clients feel heard, understood, equipped, and empowered to navigate life's challenges. She values an individualized and culturally responsive approach that considers each client's emotional, relational, familial, medical, and social contexts.


Saumya uses an integrative approach grounded in evidence-based care, drawing from humanistic, existential, cognitive-behavioral, family systems, and biopsychosocial perspectives. She treats clients across the lifespan with concerns related to adjustment, anxiety, trauma, ADHD, chronic medical conditions, family stress, and attachment related challenges. Saumya completed Attachment Vitamins group training, which further informs her interest in supporting children, caregivers, and families. She is currently training in Gottman Level 1 and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
