Dr. Ximena Radjenovic was born and raised in Romania, a country with a culture rooted in strong familial and social connections. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Bucharest and continued her education graduating with a master in psychology from the University of Phoenix. Dr. Radjenovic graduated from Howard University with a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and completed her doctoral psychology internship at Student Counseling and Psychological Services, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, followed by a two-year postdoctoral clinical health psychology fellowship at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Her experience of living in a different culture than her own shaped her research, counseling, and clinical interests in cultural influence on understanding of trauma, coping processes, and resilience. Her primary clinical areas of interests include trauma-related issues, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, mood disorders, personality disorders, autism and, therapeutically, her approach to case conceptualization and treatment tends to be an interpersonal process (e.g., psychodynamic theories), heavily influenced by emotion-focused and humanistic theories(e.g., Dialectical Behavior Therapy). Dr. Radjenovic’s vision is to help individuals, groups, and organizations to embrace diversity, empowerment, and freedom, in which everyone feels a sense of belonging, love, fulfillment, and success.
